Publisher's Note
Presently the coordinates of Nigeria's economy are specified on the ambitious roadmap christened Vision 20:2020. The perspective plan document, as it technically is, was crafted to situate the country among the first 20 (industrial) economies of the world by the year 2020. Of course there is absolutely nothing wrong in visioning (or day dreaming) as it were; but the document will only be worth more than wishful thinking if and only if we get the implementation right. And, as the proverb goes, that: if wishes were horses beggars would ride. Which is why the analytical searchlight of this edition is beamed on a critical requirement to make the dream come true; that is, enhancing the role of agriculture as the critical source of raw materials for industrial growth of the economy upon which the Nigeria Vision 20:2020 is implicitly premised.
