Publisher's Note
With these words of wisdom an officer of state than the fourth president of United States of America from (1809-1817) James Madeson who was also one of its founding fathers, which were spoken more than two centuries ago, we open up a fertile ground for public discuss on the proprietary rights of researchers in the agricultural sector of Nigeria in this special edition of Nigeria Agriculture Digest. In doing so, we are responding to a client-driven opportunity offered by the World Bank-assisted West Africa Agricultural Productivity Project (WAAPP-Nigeria), which assigned a duty to Dr. (Mrs.) Josephine Ayoola to help the project in promoting intellectual property rights in the National Agricultural Research Institutes (NARIs); which she chose to be carried out in close collaboration with Farm and Infrastructure Foundation including the request for a space for a special publication in the magazine to create a lasting hard copy legacy of her role in this regard.
